Sensory-friendly performances are designed to create a welcoming and relaxed theatre experience for people with autism, sensory sensitivities, and other social, learning or cognitive disabilities.
 

Modifications to these performances include: 

• Lower sound level, especially for startling or loud sounds
• Lights remain on at a low level in the theatre during the performance
• A reduction of strobe lighting and lighting focused on the audience
• Guests are free to talk and leave their seats during the performance
• Designated quiet areas within the site
• Space throughout the theatre for standing and movement
• Limited patrons at Ford’s Theatre during the day and timing of the performance
• Ford’s Theatre staff trained to be inviting and accommodating to families' needs
